Deputy Permanent Representative


Peter Lehmann Nielsen has served as Ambassador, Deputy Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations in New York since 15 August 2015.

Before his appointment, he spent a year at the Mission of Denmark as the Political Coordinator. Prior to coming to New York, Mr. Peter Lehmann Nielsen worked in the Danish Prime Minister’s Office, from 2009 to 2011 as a foreign policy adviser, and from 2011 to 2014 in the Private Office of the Prime Minister. From 2006 to 2009 he was posted to the Danish Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Prior to that, he worked for the United Nations in New York for three years, in the Secretariat’s Department for Economic and Social Affairs, and also spent two years at the Danish National Audit Office.

Peter Lehmann Nielsen holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen. He is married to Nisha Sethi Nielsen and has two daughters.
